CENTER, Tx -- Three teams posted unbeaten records this fall en route to capturing their respective divisions and their Shelby County Youth Football League Super Bowl titles.

Timpson claimed the championship in the 10-12 Year Old Tackle Division of the SCYFL as Anthony 'A.C.' Cooper's squad defeated Tenaha, 26-14, in the Super Bowl played Saturday at Center's Roughrider Stadium.

With the completion of the semifinal rounds last weekend, Championship Saturday has been set in the Shelby County Youth Football League.

The title games in the three divisions will be played this Saturday at Roughrider Stadium, on the campus of Center High School. The cost of admission is $2 for adults and $1 for students.

A pair of cross-county rivalries brought out the best in Shelby County athletes this past week as the contests between Shelbyville and Joaquin and another between Timpson and Tenaha highlighted local play. But the most dominating individual effort during the Week of Aug. 29-Sept. 4 came from a little farther north.

With each new school year comes excitement of the unknown. It also signifies change and growth. This year we are changing and growing as well.

Beginning today, our website is changing its name to PineyWoodsSports.com. We have added four new towns to our coverage area. And because we have expanded past the boundaries of Shelby County, we felt it only appropriate that we change our name to include this growth, and projected growth of the future.

Their skills are refined by the time they hit the gridiron in junior high and they gain more and more experience as they head toward the varsity level.

The Garrison Bulldog football staff is hosting its annual Youth Football Camp over a three-day period later this month and invites those who want to learn more about the game to participate.

The camp will take place on July 26, 27 and 29 at Bulldog Stadium on the campus of the Garrison ISD. Sessions will be from 6-8 p.m. each night and involve development of basic football skills.
