VB: Bush leads Center All-18-3A honors

Center sophomore Cassie Bush led an improved showing on the volleyball court for the Center Lady Riders this season as she was named Newcomer of the Year to head the All-District 18-3A selections from Center.
In addition to Bush's league honor, two of her teammates were named to the second-team. CHS seniors Requanna Patton and Stephany Rodriguez were named to the all-league second squad.
Lady Rider players receiving honorable mention included junior Chakera Ingram, junior Sykera Berry and sophomore Lacie Evans.
Five members of the Center team were named to the All-Academic All-District 18-3A team. Players named were Rodriguez and Berry, along with senior Michaela Schutz, senior Mario Valtierra and senior Ashlyn Johnson.
The Lady Riders picked up their first district victory since the 2009 season on Oct. 11 when they defeated Jasper, 3-2. Center finished the season with an overall mark of 6-26-1, posting a 1-7 District 18-3A record.
