HENDERSON, Tx -- After losing the first two sets in Tuesday night's match, the Carthage Lady Bulldogs fought back to grab the third set, 25-23, and looked like they might challenge the Lady Lions in this District 16-3A matchup.
But Henderson took charge in the fourth set, grabbing a 25-12 victory and sending Carthage home with an even 2-2 league mark on the short end of a 1-3 score.
Sara Williams led the Carthage charge with 14 kills and eight digs. She also recorded five service aces and three blocks. Sarah Clakley had seven digs and three aces and Chasity Traylor picked up five digs.
Macy Cherry had a strong outing with nine kills, eight digs, a pair of aces and one assist. Kenzie Tate dished out 26 assists in the match, while picking up nine digs and five kills. She also had an ace.
Tambra Mitchell contributed two blocks and two kills and Shelby Soape pitched in 14 digs, three kills and three assists. Jordan Holmes added four kills.
Henderson was able to get past Carthage, 25-20 in the first set, and then took control early and held on for a 25-18 win in Set 2.
Carthage made an attempt to come back, but too many unforced errors resulted in the league loss for CHS.
