With District 20-1A volleyball schedule set to begin next week, the Timpson Lady Bears could not have picked a better time to put together a solid effort. THS traveled to Longview Tuesday night and rolled to a 3-0 sweep of Longview Christian.

The victory, which the Lady Bears won by scores of 25-15, 25-20 and 25-23, improved Timpson to 5-11 on the season, snapping a five-match losing skid to some tough competition.

Timpson's junior varsity also swept Longview Christian, winning by scores of 25-16 and 25-22.

Lady Bear senior Tori Fanguy slammed five kills to top the Timpson attack. She also added a block and a service ace.

Caitlyn Smith, a junior, added three kills, while junior Harley Martin tallied a pair herself. Junior Shelby Brown posted three kills and a service ace, while Tammi Harris posted three kills and a block.

The Lady Bears coasted in the opening game, 25-15, receiving strong serving performances by Dustee Tipton. She posted serving streaks of seven and three, recording a pair of services aces from the line.

In the second game Timpson only won by a 25-20 county, but Tipton again served well. She had a string of eight straight points served.

Timpson players chipping in numerous digs included junior Rachel Reeves, and sophomores Brittany McSwain, Shelby Bush and Ashlyn Gillespie. That group also recorded a number of saves and passed well, according to Timpson Head Coach Tori Neugebauer. The coach added that it was a true team effort.

The Lady Bear junior varsity will return to action on Saturday when it travels to Corrigan-Camden for a one-day tourney. The Timpson varsity will now open league play on Tuesday, hosting Carlisle. The junior varsity will tip off at 5 p.m., with the varsity to follow.
