With the inclement weather arriving in Shelby County this afternoon and tonight, all athletic events in the county have been either postponed or cancelled, according to various school officials.

Tonight's District 35-4A soccer matches between Center's boys and girls’ teams against Hudson have been postponed until Wednesday.

The Tenaha Tiger soccer team is continuing to make strides during its second season in existence. The Tigers captured their second straight victory for the first time in the history of the sport at THS on Monday night when the Tigers went to Longview and captured a 3-0 blanking of Spring Hill.

It was also the first-ever shut out for the Tigers, who improved their season record to 2-8 with two games left in the season.

From basketball warm-ups and playoffs to softball and baseball scrimmages to powerlifting, it will be a busy week ahead for Shelby County schools and area colleges.

This past weekend featured some exciting girls hoop action at the Tenaha Special Events Center when THS hosted the Tyler Chapter of Officials Girls Playoff Preview with four exciting games. Some of the best girls' talent in East Texas was played in the eight-team event.

CENTER -- The Center Lady Rider soccer team came out with more aggression than they have in the previous five games Tuesday night in their home opener here at Roughrider Stadium. The result was the squad recording its fourth shutout on the young season in a 7-0 victory over Tenaha.

Center girls head soccer coach Jonathan Vick was pleased with what he saw on the field Tuesday night when his Lady Riders took the field for the first time in 2010 against Tenaha. The scrimmage gave both coaches a chance to see what kind of team they'll be fielding for the season, which begins next week.
