The Tenaha Junior High 'A' team played stellar defense last Thursday night, recording a 14-0 shutout over West Sabine at The Pit in Tenaha.

Keontas Davis started the game with a 30-yard run. He also completed a 27-yard pass to T.J. Thomas. The Tigers' first score came on a 17-yard run by Davis to go on top, 6-0.

West Sabine then held the ball for the entire second quarter, but the Tigers still held a 6-0 lead at intermission.

The Tenaha Junior High football 'A' team fell behind 16-6 at halftime last Thursday night and was knocked off for only the second time in District 19-1A play with a 28-6 setback at the hands of Waskom on the road.

The Tenaha subvarsity football teams had a successful evening last Thursday night in their contests against Timpson at The Pit. The Tiger junior varsity won, 24-0, while the junior high 'A' teams tied 6-6 and the Tenaha Junior High 'B' team won its scrimmage, 1-0.

Joaquin 8th grader Armondo Hernandez Robles scored two touchdowns Thursday night as the Ram junior high 'A' team outlasted Tenaha 16-6 in a game played at The Pit in Tenaha.

Jose Campos and Assuntay Cleaver both scored a pair of touchdowns last Thursday night as the Tenaha junior varsity debuted in the 2009 season with a convincing 48-0 win over Beckville. In other games played during the rain at The Pit, the Tiger Junior High 'A' team defeated the Bearcats, 12-6, and the junior high 'B' squad captured a 1-0 scrimmage win.

Tenaha's Keontas Davis returned the opening kickoff 70 yards for a touchdown and it was all Tigers from that point on as the Tenaha Junior High football team blanked Burkeville, 46-0, at Mustang Stadium in Burkeville last Thursday night.

In addition to scoring on the opening return, Davis added the two-point conversion. Later in the contest, he returned an interception for a score and made it into the endzone while playing quarterback for the Tigers.

Trinity's eighth grade football team got a break on the first play from scrimmage, scoring on a 60-yard touchdown pass on a throw that went through the Tenaha defender's hands. They never overcame that play and the size disadvantage as the Tenaha junior high squad fell by a 28-0 count at Trinity.

Tenaha fell to 0-1 on the season. The Tigers will travel to Burkeville Thursday night for their next action. Kickoff is set for 5 p.m.
