SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Stephen F. Austin Lumberjack football team will enter the 2010 season ranked eighth in the nation according to the FCS Coaches’ Preseason Top 25 poll released Monday afternoon.
 
SFA, one of only two Southland Conference schools to debut in the preseason poll, received 413 points in the poll. The Lumberjack finished the season ranked ninth in the final 2009 FCS Coaches Top 25 Poll.

NACOGDOCHES, Texas – The Stephen F. Austin Lumberjack football team held its second of two scheduled fall scrimmages Saturday at Homer Bryce Stadium. Saturday’s contest was eerily similar to last Saturday’s scrimmage as the defense held the offense in check. The SFA offense was held to only one touchdown prior to the late-game situations to close the workout.

NACOGDOCHES, Texas – The Stephen F. Austin Lumberjack football team will wrap up their second week of fall camp Saturday with a scrimmage. The scrimmage, which is the second of the fall, has been moved to a 6 p.m. start at Homer Bryce Stadium. It was originally slated to get under way at 7 p.m. but was rescheduled for 6 p.m. Friday morning.

With the opening of the 2010 season officially a week away, high school football teams in the Piney Woods will be doing some necessary fine-tuning in their second scrimmages so they'll have all their pieces in place when Week 0 of the regular season rolls around next week.

NACOGDOCHES, Texas -- The 2009-10 season was the most successful season in SFA athletics history as the Ladyjacks and Lumberjacks dominated the league to win the 2010 Southland Conference Commissioner’s Cup. SFA was so dominant in both men’s and women’s athletics that they swept all three all-sports trophies (men’s, women’s and combined) becoming only the second league school to accomplish that since the creation of the award, and the first since the 1998-99 season.

Austin Lumberjack football team is ranked eighth in the country according the Sports Network Preseason Top 25 Poll announced Monday afternoon.  The ’Jacks are the highest ranked SLC team in the poll, and one of only two conference schools in the preseason poll.

NACOGDOCHES, Texas - Following the team's first fall scrimmage, the Lumberjack football team took Sunday off and will get back to practice [Monday] morning. SFA opened the first week of practice with 6:30 p.m. workouts, but the team has returned to its normal 7 a.m. schedule. SFA closes out the week with its second of two planned scrimmages Saturday, Aug. 21.
