It's late at night and I'm sitting here at my computer in my office like I have so many times over the past three years. I'm burning the 'midnight oil' once again. It's the end of an era of sorts, but one which I look back on and smile when I think of all the great memories and friendships I've built.

NACOGDOCHES, Tx – Senior Willie Jefferson and junior Malcolm Mattox have been named to the College Football Performance Awards (CFPA) Watch List announced publication officials Monday afternoon.
 
The SFA duo both earned All-Southland Conference honors last season, a season that saw Mattox start all 11 games, while Jefferson was named conference newcomer of the year and earned All-America honors.

NACOGDOCHES, Tx - Two-time Hall of Fame Athletics Trainer Sandy Miller will retire in August following 31 year of service to Stephen F. Austin. Miller has served as the Assistant Director of Sports Medicine for the university since July 1981.

NACOGDOCHES, Tx - Stephen F. Austin football hosted its annual Pro Day on Tuesday and five seniors participated in the workout in front of eight National Football League scouts.

Georgie Bias, Derrick Choice, Romeo Robinson, Brandon Scott, Sean Warren, Willie Watkins and Ben Wells participated. 

Bias was a 2011 All-American while both Choice and Wells were two-time all-conference selections.

NACOGDOCHES, Tx – Kevin Carberry has been named assistant coach announced Stephen F. Austin head coach J.C. Harper Monday afternoon. Carberry will work with the Lumberjack defensive ends.
 
“We are very excited to have Kevin join our staff,” said Harper. “He did a great job assisting with the KU defense. During his time there, Kansas was among the FBS leaders in sacks. Over the course of the past four years our defense have finished among the nation’s top 20 in sacks and led the nation last year. Kevin is a great fit for our team.”

NACOGDOCHES, Tx – The Stephen F. Austin Lumberjack football team signed 21 high school standouts to National Letters of Intent two-time Southland Conference Coach of the Year J.C. Harper announced Wednesday afternoon. The 2012 class consists of 10 players on the defensive side of the ball, 10 offensive players and a specialist.

NACOGDOCHES - Richard Olin and Troy Rogers have been hired as assistant coaches announced head coach J.C. Harper just 24 hours prior to National Signing Day. Olin will take over as offensive coordinator, and work with the Lumberjack quarterbacks while, Rogers will coach the outside receivers.

The state of Texas has its first Heisman Trophy winner since Ricky Williams and Texas Football is making sure he gets his due. Baylor’s Robert Griffin III graces the fifth-annual edition’s striking cover, as does his familiarly-posed bronze trophy, and with good reason — behind Griffin, Baylor completed one of its finest seasons in school history.

NACOGDOCHES - Offensive lineman George Bias and defensive end Willie Jefferson have been named 2011 College Sports Journal All-Americans announced publication officials late Thursday evening. Bias is a first-team selection, while Jefferson received honorable mention honors.

Senior offensive lineman George Bias, and juniors Gralyn Crawford and Willie Jefferson have been named to the 2011 Phil Steele's Magazine All-America squad announced publication officials. All three athletes garnered third-team honors.
