NACOGDOCHES, Tx – Senior Willie Jefferson and junior Malcolm Mattox have been named to the College Football Performance Awards (CFPA) Watch List announced publication officials Monday afternoon.
 
The SFA duo both earned All-Southland Conference honors last season, a season that saw Mattox start all 11 games, while Jefferson was named conference newcomer of the year and earned All-America honors.

NACOGDOCHES, Tx - Two-time Hall of Fame Athletics Trainer Sandy Miller will retire in August following 31 year of service to Stephen F. Austin. Miller has served as the Assistant Director of Sports Medicine for the university since July 1981.

NACOGDOCHES, Tx - Stephen F. Austin football hosted its annual Pro Day on Tuesday and five seniors participated in the workout in front of eight National Football League scouts.

Georgie Bias, Derrick Choice, Romeo Robinson, Brandon Scott, Sean Warren, Willie Watkins and Ben Wells participated. 

Bias was a 2011 All-American while both Choice and Wells were two-time all-conference selections.

NACOGDOCHES, Tx - The Stephen F. Austin Ladyjacks were unable to slow down a dynamic UNI Panthers' offense in an 83-67 loss in the first round of the Women's Basketball Invitational Thursday evening at William R. Johnson Coliseum.

SFA (23-10) had four players score in double-figures, including a team-high 16 points from Annette Davis but the Ladyjacks could not slow down a Panthers' team that shot 51 percent from the floor, including 41 percent from 3-point territory.

NACOGDOCHES, Tx - The Stephen F. Austin Ladyjacks have received the No. 2 seed in the Women's Basketball Invitational and will host No. 7 Northern Iowa Thursday at 7 p.m. at William R. Johnson Coliseum.

This will mark the Ladyjacks 26th appearance in postseason play, having last advanced to the 2010 WNIT where they fell to Creighton, 76-65.

KATY, Tx -- Redemption found its way toward Caitlyn Baggett on Friday night, which led to McNeese State finding itself back in the NCAA tournament.

Baggett, who missed a pair of free throws with 17 seconds left, knocked down a pair with five seconds remaining to give the Cowgirls a 62-58 win over Stephen F. Austin for the school's second consecutive Southland Conference tournament championship and an automatic bid to next weekend's Big Dance.

KATY, Tx -- Once Lamar got defensive, Stephen F. Austin's scoring production became offensive.

The Cardinals unveiled a Red Curtain around the basket on Thursday night, as a 14-1 run in the second half sent coach Pat Knight's squad to Saturday's championship game with a 55-44 victory over an SFA team that had defeated them two weeks ago.

Lamar (22-11) awaits the winner of Thursday's second semifinal between UT Arlington and McNeese State.

KATY, Tx -- For the first time since 2007, the conference's most prolific women's program is back in the championship game.

A smothering defense and a dominate effort on the glass helped pace Stephen F. Austin to a 66-57 win over upset-minded Nicholls State on Thursday afternoon, sending SFA (23-8) to Friday's title game, where they will face defending tournament champion McNeese State.

KATY, Tx -- In typical Stephen F. Austin fashion, Wednesday's 68-46 victory over Sam Houston State was a display of coach Danny Kaspar's team methodically wearing down an opponent, with defense serving as the foundation of the Lumberjacks' success.
