Shelbyville - Softball

After winning their first 18 games of the season, eventually taking over the No.1 spot in the state in Class 1A and capturing the District 21-1A Co-Championship and a berth into the regional finals, the Beckville Ladycats led the all-league selections which were released last week.

Beckville junior third baseman Shelbi Jo Dodson and sophomore shortstop Taylor Lindsay were named Co-Most Valuable Players by the coaches in the district, while BHS freshman Cassidy Cox was named the Newcomer of the Year.

Montana Searcy tripled and finished with three hits, while Kari Courtney ran her season record in the circle to 10-0 as the No.2-ranked Beckville Ladycats kept their season and District 21-1A records perfect with a 9-0 win over Shelbyville at Lady Dragon Field Friday night.

SHELBYVILLE, Tx - Shelbyville pitchers Caleigh Sparks and Karli Sonmor combined to shut down the Martinsville attack and record a no-hitter, while the Lady Dragon offense took care of the rest as SHS cruised to its second consecutive District 21-1A win Tuesday night, blanking the Lady Pirates, 16-0, here at Lady Dragon Field.
