Panola College head baseball coach Todd Shelton will be hosting a baseball camp for youths ages 5-12 early next month.

Shelton said the camp will take place on June 4-6 from 9 a.m. until 12-noon at the Jim Reeves Memorial Field at the Carthage Baseball Complex. The cost of the three-day camp is $75 per individual.

Coaches will concentrate on introduction on basic skills and improvement and development of skills as well.

Area baseball players who want the opportunity to try out for a major league baseball team can try out for the Tampa Bay Rays in Hallsville next month.

Rays management is hosting the open camp on Tuesday, June 12, at Hallsville High School in the attempt to find local talent that could be an asset to the organization. The camp will be supervised by Rays scout Pat Murphy and under the direction of scout Scott Mitchell.

There isn't much margin for error these days if the Shelbyville Dragons want to overtake Cushing in the battle for the third and final playoff spot from District 21-1A. The Dragons made sure on Tuesday night they kept pace with Cushing as Dillon Brown slammed a home run and a double, while Blane picked up the victory on the hill in a 12-0 blanking of Gary in five innings at Dragon Field.

SHELBYVILLE, Tx - The Shelbyville Dragons used four Martinsville errors in the first inning to bolt out to a 5-0 lead in the frame and the Dragons cruised from there as they captured their second straight District 21-1A win and third in their last four games in a 10-4 victory over the Pirates here at Dragon Field Friday afternoon.

The Shelbyville Dragons kept their postseason hopes alive Tuesday night when Blane Deal and Brandon Schilder combined for a six-hitter as the Dragons shut out Alto, 2-0, at Yellowjacket Field in Alto.

SHELBYVILLE, Tx - The Shelbyville Dragons were hoping for a solid effort Tuesday night at home against cross-county rival Timpson and jump back into the District 21-1A playoff chase. And although they achieved the win with a 10-8 victory, it turned out to be a much harder chore than it appeared after five innings.
