CARTHAGE, Tx - Leading sixth-place Bossier Parish by three games in the Region XIV Eastern Zone standings entering this week's play, the Panola College Ponies were hoping to put a little distance between themselves and the Cavaliers on Wednesday. But a cold start resulted in a 3-1 loss to BPCC here at Jim Reeves Memorial Field in Game 1 of the twinbill. Panola then stormed back to blast the Cavs in Game 2, 10-0.

CARTHAGE, Tx - Holding on to a 2.59 ERA in 24.1 innings on the mound in the Eastern Zone of Region XIV play, Panola College sophomore pitcher Jamie McClure was looking to give his team a lift when he stepped on the hill for Game 1 of Saturday's doubleheader against Paris Junior College. McClure kept the Dragons at bay, holding them to one earned run in six innings to lead the Ponies to a 7-3 victory.

Navarro College got off to fast starts in both of its games with Panola College on Wednesday as the Bulldogs swept a doubleheader from the Ponies, 6-4, 8-6, in Corsicana.

The double loss dropped the Ponies to 14-22 on the year, 6-14 in Region XIV action. Panola will try to bounce back at home on Saturday when the Ponies host Paris Junior College in a twinbill at Jim Reeves Memorial Field beginning at 1 p.m.

Despite entering this week in fifth place in the Region XIV Eastern Zone standings, the Panola College Ponies are holding their own with the top pitcher in zone play and a hitter ranked No.10 in batting average.

CARTHAGE, Tx - The Panola College Ponies have had their share of hard luck this season and were needing a successful opportunity to overcome some adversity. What they received during Game 1 of Saturday's doubleheader here at Jim Reeves Memorial Field against Angelina College might just have been what the 'doctor ordered' as Giovannie Lugo responded after his team blew a 2-0 lead by not only driving in the tying run in the seventh inning, but the winning run in the ninth in an emotion-packed 6-5 win over Angelina College.

Panola College allowed 12 runs by Texarkana College in the first three innings of Game 1 of a doubleheader Wednesday and that set the tone for a sweep over the Ponies in a Region XIV matchup in Texarkana.

Despite the slow start defensively in the first game, the Ponies fought back only to lose 12-6. The Bulldogs then captured a defensive dual in Game 2, taking a 1-0 decision.

The Ponies lost the twinbill despite outhitting the Bulldogs, 20-10.

Panola College sophomore Jamie McClure and redshirt freshman Logan Johnson kept the Lon Morris Bearcats at bay for the first game of Saturday's doubleheader at Jim Reeves Field by combining for a no-hitter as the Ponies swept the twinbill, 5-0, 13-4.

With the twin victories, Panola inched closer to the .500 mark in Region XIV play (5-7) as Panola improved to 10-15 on the season and snapped a five game losing skid.

It was a tough week on the diamond for the Panola College Ponies. After falling to Tyler Junior College on Monday, 12-5, in a nonconference matchup, the Ponies went on the road Wednesday and saw their Region XIV mark dip to 3-7 with a 12-5, 6-4 doubleheader sweep at the hands of Paris Junior College.

Panola (8-15) fell behind early, as the Dragons scored a run in the first frame of Game 1, then followed that with a six-run second to take a 7-1 lead.

CARTHAGE, Tx - One inning can make a huge difference. The Panola College Ponies were reminded of that here at Jim Reeves Memorial Park on Saturday afternoon, as the Navarro College Bulldogs used a huge fifth inning to overcome two home runs by the Ponies to win the front end of an afternoon doubleheader by a final score of 5-3.

In the second game of the twinbill, the Ponies built a 9-5 lead heading into the ninth inning and fell 11-9, falling back to 8-12 on the year, 3-5 in Region XIV action.

CARTHAGE, Tx - The Panola College Ponies have fought back to a .500 record in Region XIV games in the young season after blasting 21 hits in a 10-8, 6-3 twinbill sweep of Bossier Parish Community College at Jim Reeves Memorial Field on Wednesday.

The wins snapped a short two-game skid as the Ponies improved to 8-10 on the year, 3-3 in conference action. Panola will try to continue their run as they host Navarro College Saturday in a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m.
