WEEK 9: HIGH SCHOOL

Tuesday, October 25, 2011

As a son of a football coach, former Beckville Bearcat Seth Hubbard knows what it's like to be around football. He's known it his whole life. By doing so he knows, as much as anyone, that a backup has to be ready at all times to step into a game and perform. There can be no hesitation.

Hubbard was a starter at Beckville High School, but now as a junior at NCAA Division III East Texas Baptist University in Marshall, he's had to learn to be patient and be ready to 'deliver' whenever he's called upon.

Even more attention was brought to this small Class 1A football program when Davis went down with a knee injury two weeks ago in the Tigers' 28-0 win over Harleton.

All is now well in Tigerland.

The Center Roughriders have been knocking on the proverbial door of the District 18-3A championship for the past two seasons, finishing third in 2009 and then second a year ago. This year's top prize is truly up for grabs and Friday night's contest between the Roughriders and Bulldogs could very well decide it.

MARSHALL, Tx -- There are two things that are clear when it comes to the Cloudy family and the sons of Marlin and Felicia Cloudy: They worship the Lord and put Him first in their lives; and they are dedicated athletes and determined to never be outplayed on any athletic venue as they compete at varous levels.

And by putting those two important aspects of their lives in that order of importance has not only helped them to be successful, but has allowed their reputations to blossom as well.
