JOAQUIN, Tx -- When Wyatt Hairgrove is 'on' the Joaquin Rams are a tough team to defense. And when Tra Rogers is added to the mix, opponents know they're in for a long game.
That's what happened Monday afternoon when Hairgrove caught fire, scoring 43 points, and Rogers directed the offense as the Rams picked up their 13th win in their last 15 games in a convincing 76-38 win over Timpson here in Ram Gymnasium.

JOAQUIN, Tx -- First-year Joaquin head girls' basketball coach Carrie Obregon has her Lady Rams scrappin' defensively this season. But on Monday they just flat out took charge. The Lady Rams used an aggressive offensive attack and a stingy defense as they built a 12-point first-quarter lead and then held the Lady Bears scoreless for 10:04 of the second half for an easy 41-17 win over cross-county rival Timpson.

The Tenaha Tigers are getting set for the biggest game in the football program's history since the 1998 season when the squad takes its unbeaten 13-0 mark to Dallas Cowboys Stadium on Thursday to face the Munday Moguls (13-2) for the Class 1A D-II State Championship at 4 p.m.

GARY, Tx -- The Wells Lady Pirates posted a spotless 4-0 record to capture top honors in the girls' division of the annual Gary Basketball Tournament on Saturday. The Lady Pirates clipped Chireno, 38-36, in the finale.
Overton claimed third-place honors with a 33-21 win over Martinsville, while Cushing took home the consolation trophy with a 49-37 triumph over Shelbyville. Broaddus had to go to overtime to claim the fifth spot in the tournament with a 33-29 verdict over Joaquin.

GARY, Tx -- The 20th-ranked Douglass knocked off the No.2-ranked Wells Pirates, 71-45, to move in a position to play for the boys' championship at the Gary Basketball Tournament this past weekend and then knocked off 11th-ranked Martinsville, 65-47, Saturday night in the title game of the annual event in Bobcat Gymnasium.

GARY, Tx -- The Timpson Lady Bears put together one of their strongest performance of the young season in the opening round of the Gary Basketball Tournament Thursday as Jakelia Caraway poured in 22 points to lead THS to a 52-37 win over Douglass.
The Joaquin Lady Rams started on a positive note with a 53-44 win over Beckville, but dropped a 42-25 setback to Wells on the final game of the night and will now have Friday off before heading back to the court on Saturday at 12:45 p.m.

The brothers duo of Wyatt and Tristan Hairgrove combined for 29 points and eight rebounds Tuesday night as the Joaquin Rams recorded their eighth straight victory in a 57-42 win over Overton Tuesday night in Ram Gymnasium.
The win improved the Rams to 8-1 as the team recorded its eighth straight victory since an opening-night loss at the hands of Gary.
