BB: Center hosts winter baseball camp

Center High School first-year Head Baseball Coach Joey Brown has announced that he will be hosting his first winter baseball camp on January 22 for youths ages 8-14.

Brown explained there will be a hitting and pitching camp. Instructors include Brown himself, along with Chad and Casey Beck, who are pitchers in Major League Baseball's Toronto Blue Jays organization.

BB: Composite bats no longer allowed

INDIANAPOLIS, IN  — One of six new rules changes by the National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS) Baseball Rules Committee forbids the use of composite bats until they can meet the Batted Ball Coefficient of Restitution (BBCOR) performance standard. The changes, which were subsequently approved by the NFHS Board of Directors, will take effect with the 2010-11 school year.

UIL adopts concussion management

AUSTIN, TX — The UIL adopted new regulations for concussion management, but will continue to study increasing the distance for girls cross country after decisions handed down by the UIL Legislative Council on Monday.
