After winning their first 18 games of the season, eventually taking over the No.1 spot in the state in Class 1A and capturing the District 21-1A Co-Championship and a berth into the regional finals, the Beckville Ladycats led the all-league selections which were released last week.

Beckville junior third baseman Shelbi Jo Dodson and sophomore shortstop Taylor Lindsay were named Co-Most Valuable Players by the coaches in the district, while BHS freshman Cassidy Cox was named the Newcomer of the Year.

GARY, Tx - As he prepares for his third year as girls head basketball coach at Gary High School, David Duncan comes into this school year with something he hasn't had the previous two - a veteran squad.

The Ladycats will be in the same district, joining new teams in District 22-1A D-I as members include former 2A squad Joaquin, along with 1A Martinsville, in addition to old league squads Shelbyville, Tenaha and Timpson.

Garrison's Dustin Stahan was named Co-Most Valuable Player of District 21-1A  and Gary senior outfielder/pitcher Luke Thornton was among the players honored last week when the All-District 21-1A baseball teams were released by the league. The players were nominated and voted upon by the coaches.

Thornton played two positions, but was a first-team outfielder, along with Garrison senior Nathan Burkhalter, Douglass senior Blake Wallace and Timpson junior Tyler Jackson.

Carthage head baseball coach Jim Goldman has announced that this year's Bulldog Baseball Camp is coming in June.

The three-day camp will take place on Wednesday through Friday, June 20-22, from 9 a.m. until 12-noon at Jim Reeves Memorial Field at the Carthage City Complex on the loop.

The camp will be for ages seven to incoming high school freshman and the cost will be $60 for each individual attending.

Gary 6-1 post player Connor Coligan has been named to the Class 1A All-State Academic basketball team by the Texas High School Coaches Association, according to information released by his parents.

He has been a integral part of the Gary High School basketball program throughout his four years of high school. He was named the team's Defensive Most Valuable Player and was an All-District 22-1A the past two seasons, earning second-team honors this season.

With the recent success of Carthage golf teams, including the CHS Lady Bulldogs participating in the State golf tournament in Austin the past four years, a new kind of clinic is being brought to Carthage.

A Christian Junior Golf Clinic will be held at the Carthage Country Club on June 7-8 for students ages 7-9 and June 21-22 for ages 10 through 12.

Athletes interested in becoming a part of the Panola College baseball team will have a chance next month to earn a spot on the NJCAA squad.

Ponies' head coach Todd Shelton has announced that the college will be holding an open tryout on Tuesday, June 12, at 11 a.m. at Jim Reeves Memorial Field at the Carthage City Sports Complex on the loop.

Panola College head baseball coach Todd Shelton will be hosting a baseball camp for youths ages 5-12 early next month.

Shelton said the camp will take place on June 4-6 from 9 a.m. until 12-noon at the Jim Reeves Memorial Field at the Carthage Baseball Complex. The cost of the three-day camp is $75 per individual.

Coaches will concentrate on introduction on basic skills and improvement and development of skills as well.
