The state of Texas has its first Heisman Trophy winner since Ricky Williams and Texas Football is making sure he gets his due. Baylor’s Robert Griffin III graces the fifth-annual edition’s striking cover, as does his familiarly-posed bronze trophy, and with good reason — behind Griffin, Baylor completed one of its finest seasons in school history.
Also on the cover is Houston quarterback Case Keenum, who closed his career in style with a UH single-season record 13th win. DCTF also notes the impending conference moves of Texas A&M, TCU, Texas State and UTSA, as well as the remarkable career of 2011 Summer Coverboy Johnathan Gray. And of course, we had to mention Lake Travis’ remarkable fifth-straight state title.
"All in all, this was an incredible season of football in Texas,” managing editor Travis Stewart said. “We celebrated a Heisman winner. We watched Johnathan Gray set staggering statistical records. We watched Lake Travis win a title — again. So much happened in one year, but it made for our best Winter Edition yet. I couldn’t be happier with this installment in the series.”
