Center's Ty Hubbard dominated on the field, on the hardwood and on the track. He was successful in any athletic event that he participated in, whether indoor or outdoor this past year. For his ability to compete at a high level and the success he enjoyed in the 2010-11 school year, Hubbard received several Center High School Perpetual Athletic awards, being named Most Valuable Player in three sports, the school announced recently.
Hubbard was a two-time All-District 18-3A performer in football, being named the 2010 District 18-3A Offensive Most Valuable Player and Return Man of the Year honors. He signed a national letter of intent to play football at McNeese State University after being named All-East Texas and catching 51 passes for 727 yards and 12 touchdowns and averaging 14.3-yards per reception. He also piled up 676 yards in return yards and scored six touchdowns in returns.
Hubbard completed his high school career with 88 receptions for 1,382 yards and 21 touchdowns.
On the basketball court, Hubbard averaged 16.7-points per game, to go along with 2.3 assists, 5.9 boards, 3.0 steals and 0.6 blocks per contest as he led CHS to the postseason in this sport as well. He was named the District 18-3A Offensive Player of the Year for his efforts.
