CMS 7th 'B' spikers sweep Rusk, 2-0

CENTER -- The Center Middle School Lady Rider volleyball teams were in action at home Monday night here at Roughrider Middle School Gymnasium, trying to improve their skills as they took on the Rusk Lady Eagles. The CMS 7th Grade 'B' squad swept to a 2-0 victory, while the 8th Grade 'B' team split two games with Rusk. The Center 7th Grade 'A' team and the 8th Grade 'A' squad both dropped 2-0 decisions.

The Center Middle School volleyball teams split four matches Monday night in Jasper as they faced the Lady Bulldogs. Both Lady Rider 8th grade teams were victorious, while the seventh grade squads dropped their matches.

The Lady Rider 8th grade 'A' team won in straight sets, claiming a 25-15, 25-19 victory. The Center 8th grade 'B' squad also swept the Lady Bulldogs, as they won by 25-23 and 25-16 scores.

CENTER -- It was a great night for four of the five Center Middle School volleyball squads as they battled and defeated arch-rival Carthage here at the Center MS Gymnasium. All three Lady Rider 7th grade teams swept their way to victories, along with the Center 8th Grade 'B' squad. The only team that couldn't get the win was the 8th grade 'A' team, which had coincidentally played well against the same Carthage team recently at the Panola Tournament.

The Center 8th grade volleyball team recently participated in a tournament at Panola College on Sept 5, finishing third in its pool, posting a 5-5 record, according to Head Coach Beth Nichols.

Center defeated Mike Moses of the Nacogdoches ISD and then lost to Forest Park of Longview. Center then split matches with Longview's Judson squad, and also the team from Tatum. The Lady Riders lost twice to Carthage, but took the Lady Bulldogs down to the wire in the second match, falling by just two points.
