Professional and college athletes, coaches and mentors who want to share their experiences and knowledge of the game of football will be on hand Saturday when the 19th Annual Preston Football Camp comes to Center.

Center 8th grade outscores Rusk, 36-22

The Center 8th grade Roughriders got caught up in a high-scoring contest with Rusk last Thursday night at Eagle Stadium, but came away with a 36-22 victory.

Rusk returned the opening kickoff for a score to put the 'Riders in an early hole, but Center came back and drove down the field and pulled within 8-6 when Chavis Gregory hit paydirt.

CENTER -- Center's Chavis Gregory punished the Diboll 8th grade defense Thursday night by plowing his way for 121 yards on just five carries as the Roughriders handed Diboll an early 6-0 lead and then took charge and rolled to a 24-6 win here at Roughrider Stadium.

Shaw, CMS 7th rumble past Lumberjacks, 14-0

CENTER -- The Center Roughrider 7th grade used the 'short field' to its advantage Thursday night as Johnny Shaw sparked CMS to a 14-0 victory over Diboll here on a sloppy Roughrider Stadium field Thursday night.

Rain all week caused conditions to worsen quickly as coaches agreed to run the clock more freely to keep from damaging the field more than necessary.

Center 8th falls to Carthage, 16-6

The Center 8th grade 'A' football team saw Carthage take a 16-6 halftime lead last Thurday night and then neither team could score in the second half as CMS fell on the road to the Bulldogs.

 The Roughriders had a pair of starters out with injuries, but still gave the Bulldogs a battle. After Carthage scored first, Center's Chavis Gregory scored on a touchdown run of eight yards as Center rebounded.

CMS 8th 'A' comeback falls short

CENTER -- Trailing 8-6 in the third quarter, the Center 8th grade 'A' team needed a spark to get back into its game with Bullard as skies were threatening off to the northwest. The Roughriders' got a break when Darius Hill stepped in front of a would-be receiver, picked off a pass and sprinted 69 yards down the left sideline for the touchdown and a 12-8 CMS lead.

CENTER -- The Center 8th Grade 'B' Roughriders stopped Bullard back behind the line of scrimmage on six of 14 offensive plays here at Roughrider Stadium Thursday night en route to an impressive 12-0 win over the Panthers. Bullard managed only
25 yards of total offense, while Center rode the back of Jemarcus Jones, who ran for 164 yards and a pair of scores.

Jones stole the show for Center, averaging 27.3-yards per carry on six attempts. He had scoring runs of 75 and 61 yards.

Center 7th 'A' Roughriders bounce BMS

CENTER -- The Center 7th Grade 'A' team held Bullard to just 19 yards of total offense, while the Roughrider offense used a 72-yard scoring run by Kel Ratcliff and a pair of touchdowns by Johnny Shaw to record an impressive 28-0 victory over the Panthers here at Roughrider Stadium Thursday night.

The 'Riders were content to play ball control as they only attempted one pass all night long. However, they only ran nine plays the entire evening, averaging 16.3-yards per play.

CENTER -- The Center 7th grade 'B' team received a pair of touchdown runs by Darrell Barnes Thursday night and that was enough to knock off Bullard, 14-0, in middle school football action here at Roughrider Stadium.

The Roughriders moved out to an 8-0 lead with 1:11 gone in the second quarter when Barnes sprinted around left end and down the sideline for a 46-yard scoring jaunt. Jose Paredes added the two-point conversion and the 'Riders took the lead for good.

CMS 8th 'A' knocks off Dragons, 12-6

A stingy defense, combined with an offense led by Chavis (Mike) Gregory was too much for the larger Nacogdoches Mike Moses Dragons Thursday night as the Roughrider 8th grade 'A' team built a 12-0 lead and then rode its defense for a 12-6 victory at Roughrider Stadium.
