Carthage head baseball coach Jim Goldman has announced that this year's Bulldog Baseball Camp is coming in June.

The three-day camp will take place on Wednesday through Friday, June 20-22, from 9 a.m. until 12-noon at Jim Reeves Memorial Field at the Carthage City Complex on the loop.

The camp will be for ages seven to incoming high school freshman and the cost will be $60 for each individual attending.

Athletes interested in becoming a part of the Panola College baseball team will have a chance next month to earn a spot on the NJCAA squad.

Ponies' head coach Todd Shelton has announced that the college will be holding an open tryout on Tuesday, June 12, at 11 a.m. at Jim Reeves Memorial Field at the Carthage City Sports Complex on the loop.

Panola College head baseball coach Todd Shelton will be hosting a baseball camp for youths ages 5-12 early next month.

Shelton said the camp will take place on June 4-6 from 9 a.m. until 12-noon at the Jim Reeves Memorial Field at the Carthage Baseball Complex. The cost of the three-day camp is $75 per individual.

Coaches will concentrate on introduction on basic skills and improvement and development of skills as well.

Area baseball players who want the opportunity to try out for a major league baseball team can try out for the Tampa Bay Rays in Hallsville next month.

Rays management is hosting the open camp on Tuesday, June 12, at Hallsville High School in the attempt to find local talent that could be an asset to the organization. The camp will be supervised by Rays scout Pat Murphy and under the direction of scout Scott Mitchell.

The Huntington Red Devils held Center to just four hits, while using nine offensively to hand the Roughriders an 11-1 setback in five innings on Tuesday night in Huntington.

The loss was the eighth in their last nine games for Center, which dropped to 4-15 on the season, 2-7 in District 18-3A action. Huntington improved to 13-7 on the year, 5-3 in league play.

CENTER, Tx - Despite their struggles this season, the Center Roughriders continued their mastery over Kirbyville Monday night as CHS completed the season sweep of the Wildcats here at Roughrider Field with a 13-3 win in six innings.
