CARTHAGE, Tx -- Needing a win to jump back into the District 16-3A volleyball race Tuesday night, Carthage head coach Lauren Dennard received what she wanted, but not in the way she wanted it. Her Lady Bulldogs came out sluggish early then picked up the pace late to knock off Gilmer, 30-28, 17-25, 25-20, 25-22, here in Bulldog Gymnasium.

VB: Lady Dawgs cruise to 7th straight win

Sara Williams and Macy Cherry combined for 28 kills Tuesday night as the Carthage Lady Bulldogs captured their seventh straight win as they blanked Brownsboro, 3-0, in Bulldog Gymnasium.

The win, by scores of 25-22, 25-18, 25-18, completes the nondistrict schedule for CHS and with league play beginning Tuesday night. And with the squad on a winning streak, league couldn't come at a better time.

VB: Lady Dawgs knock out Chapel Hill

The Carthage Lady Dawgs welcomed back head coach Lauren Dennard from maternity leave with a hard-fought home victory as CHS knocked off the Chapel Hill Lady Dogs, 3-2, Friday in Bulldog Gymnasium.

The win was Carthage's sixth straight as they improved to 14-10 on the season. The Lady Dawgs will then open District 16-3A action next Tuesday at Spring Hill. There will be junior varsity and varsity matches, getting underway at 5 p.m.

VB: Lady Dogs finish third at tourney

The Carthage Lady Bulldog volleyball team is coming off a busy week, taking part in a three-team event last Tuesday before battling in the tough Tyler Tournament over the weekend. The Lady Dogs finished the week strong claiming third spot in the tourney.
