CARTHAGE, Tx -- JayDon Day produced a strong opening performance on the hill Monday night, pitching a complete-game three-hitter here at Jim Reeves Memorial Field to help boost the No.4-ranked Carthage Bulldogs to a 5-0 blanking of Hallsville.

Day gave up a lead-off single and then didn't give up another hit until the seventh inning when the Bobcats added two more singles from pinch hitters, but the decision had long-since been decided. Day struck out eight and walked just one to get the victory.

There are many times when we'd all like to be cloned so we could do multiple things at one times. Last week was one of those times in my life as I had parents, fans and readers wanting me to cover three different World Series events and a state tournament in different parts of the country. Unfortunately, I can only be at one place at a time.

Despite being six years old, the Panola County National All-Stars don't just rely on their offense to win games. But a 51-run, 78-hit attack in a three-game series didn't hurt either.

Looking to defend their state title from a year ago, Panola County National used tough defense and 18 extra-base hits this past weekend as the 'Dogs took two out of three games from Mount Pleasant to win the 2011 Dixie T-Ball State Championship Saturday in Spring Hill.
