CARTHAGE, Tx - With a spot in the 7-on-7 Division II State Tournament in College Station already locked up and set to begin on July 19, the Carthage Bulldogs are all about fine-tuning their game in the next four weeks.

Carthage participated in their last night of league competition on Thursday evening at Bulldog Stadium and posted a 2-2 record against Marshall and Evangel Christian Academy high schools. Evangel finished a perfect 3-0 on the night, while Marshall was winless at 0-3.

CARTHAGE, Tx - She loved running from the start. And with the love of track and field, came success, which made it that much more enjoyable. Former Carthage Lady Dawg C.K. Williams will have the opportunity continue running after signing a letter of intent to run track and attend Wiley College in Marshall next fall.

TENAHA, Tx - Former Carthage Bulldog basketball and football standout Marcus Bowman has always wondered what it would be like to be a coach on the sideline giving instruction instead of the athlete receiving it. The Panola College student who is studying to become a coach is getting an opportunity to get a glimpse of what's ahead as he works this summer as the coach of the CHS Lady Bulldog basketball team.

CARTHAGE, Tx - Setting her eye on the prize of eventually playing at a four-year institution, former Carthage Lady Dragon two-sport athlete Emily McLin has chosen McLennan Community College to further her academic and basketball careers.

McLin looked at East Texas Baptist University and McLennan before making the choice on the two-year school in Waco. McLennan, which is part of NJCAA Region 5, posted an overall record of 12-18 this past season and tied for fourth in the NTJCAC with a 7-7 mark.

JayDon Day isn't satisfied with his 11-2 pitching record in 2012. He wants to get better for his senior run in 2013.

Day took advantage of the opportunity to play for the Texas All-Stars as they played six days of baseball against the best seniors-to-be from all across the country in the 16th Annual 'Junior' Sunbelt Classic baseball tournament.

Rickey Ingram continues to win, both in life and on the gridiron.

Less than a year after undergoing surgery for a tumor on his brain, and despite suffering a season-ending injury during the 2012 season during Week 9, Ingram was excited as the day he first began playing youth football at age 11 when he recently signed a letter of intent to play football at Louisiana College.

The list of all-stars and all-state players from Panola County and the area continues to grow as Carthage's Samantha Clakley and Beckville's Montana Searcy and Shelbi Jo Dodson were named to their respective all-state softball lists.

Carthage baseball player Clint Cage also received another honor as he will join Spring Hill's Talyn Cellucci and play in the Texas High School Baseball Coaches Association Class 1A-2A-3A All-Star Game set for 12-noon Saturday at Round Rock's Dell Diamond.

MARSHALL, Tx — Visiting Carthage and host Marshall showed some positive and negative signs in spurts during Thursday afternoon’s 7-on-7 football action at Maverick Stadium, but both teams played about as close as they could be when it was all said and done.

Blake Bogenschutz, the talented soon-to-be junior quarterback for the Bulldogs, finished 18-of-41 with five touchdowns despite several drops.

Carthage High School has announced that it will be hosting a pair of annual football camps. There will be a quarterbacks' camp coming the next two weeks and a camp for players of all positions in early August.

The 6th Annual Carthage Bulldog Quarterback Camp is scheduled for Tuesday, June 19, with the second one on Tuesday, June 26. Each camp is for incoming fifth through ninth graders for the upcoming school year.

When he received the invitation to participate against some of the best 10th grade baseball players in the nation in the 16th Annual Sophomore Sunbelt Classic earlier this month in Oklahoma City, Carthage's Kolby Blissett was both honored and excited.

A Texas team, made up of some of the most talented sophomores and juniors-to-be, met in Fort Worth on June 1 and then rode a charter bus to Oklahoma City, where they exited the bus and immediately began competition in the tournament, facing Colorado.
