GRAND SALINE, Tx -- For the past four seasons that Casey Dennard has been head coach, the Beckville Ladycat volleyball team has enjoyed a long season run and has participated in the playoffs. Despite joing the postseason party, the 2011 run ended here in Indian Gymnasium Saturday when Beckville ran into a dominating Savoy ballclub and was turned away by the District 17-1A champions, 25-7, 25-14, 25-14.

The Timpson volleyball team couldn't overcome a Beckville squad that was gearing up for a run in the Class 1A playoffs as the Ladycats knocked off the Lady Bears in straight sets, 25-21, 25-13, 25-11, in John Herbert Eakin Gymnasium in Timpson Tuesday night.

The setback ended the season for Timpson, which dropped its last seven matches of the year and finished the season with a 9-26 mark overall, 2-10 against District 20-1A competition.

The Beckville Ladycats are hot with the playoff quickly approaching. They claimed their fifth consecutive 3-0 sweep on Tuesday night when they rolled past Leverett's Chapel, 25-17, 25-17, 25-17, Tuesday night on the road.

The win gave the Ladycats an 8-2 District 20-1A mark with just two games left in the regular season. They also improved to 25-12 overall, having won eight of their last nine matches.

BECKVILLE, Tx -- In a match that could go a long way in determining one of the final playoff spots in the District 20-1A race, the Beckville Ladycats used 18 service aces and took advantage of strong net play and nine service errors by Timpson to record a 25-9, 25-16, 25-18 sweep of the Lady Bears here in Bearcat Gymnasium Friday afternoon.
