The list of all-stars and all-state players from Panola County and the area continues to grow as Carthage's Samantha Clakley and Beckville's Montana Searcy and Shelbi Jo Dodson were named to their respective all-state softball lists.

Carthage baseball player Clint Cage also received another honor as he will join Spring Hill's Talyn Cellucci and play in the Texas High School Baseball Coaches Association Class 1A-2A-3A All-Star Game set for 12-noon Saturday at Round Rock's Dell Diamond.

After winning their first 18 games of the season, eventually taking over the No.1 spot in the state in Class 1A and capturing the District 21-1A Co-Championship and a berth into the regional finals, the Beckville Ladycats led the all-league selections which were released last week.

Beckville junior third baseman Shelbi Jo Dodson and sophomore shortstop Taylor Lindsay were named Co-Most Valuable Players by the coaches in the district, while BHS freshman Cassidy Cox was named the Newcomer of the Year.

BECKVILLE, Tx - Every team has at least one player who knows how to lighten the pressure when the time is right. And many times that player is one who steps up the intensity when the squad takes the field or court.

For the Beckville Ladycat softball team, that player is junior third baseman Shelbi Jo Dodson.

HENDERSON, Tx - This year's four softball games between District 21-1A foes Beckville and Garrison could have easily been compared to a boxing match between Muhammad Ali and Joe Frazier. Both fought toe-to-toe and wouldn't back down.

Each of the games between these two Class 1A heavyweights was full of damaging blows. And with each school trying to claim their first trip to the state softball tournament on Thursday at Lady Lion Field, this game was no different.

BECKVILLE, Tx - A year ago the Beckville Ladycat softball team almost literally rode the arm of Kari Courtney in its quest for a trip to the State tournament in Austin. After coming up one win short of their goal, the squad has found a new way to achieve its goal and has played with a vengeance to make a trip to Austin in 2012.

NACOGDOCHES, Tx - Despite blanking Douglass 7-0 in Game 1 Thursday night, the No.1-ranked Beckville Ladycats wanted to make sure the 16th-ranked Lady Indians knew who the superior team was. So Beckville turned a pair of double plays, used a two-hit pitching shutout and a 3-for-4 effort at the dish by Kari Courtney Friday to blank the Lady Indians, 10-0, in five innings at Lady Dragon Field.
