Beckville's Cody McGuire slammed a solo home run in the sixth inning, but the Bearcats couldn't manage much more offense Tuesday night as they dropped a 10-1 decision to the Carlisle Indians in a District 20-1A matchup in Price.

The setback leaves Beckville with a 1-1 league record. They will host Hawkins Friday night at 6 p.m. as the Bearcats try to lift their district mark back above the .500 mark. BHS is currently 4-7 on the season. After Friday's game, BHS will visit Overton Tuesday at 4:30 p.m.

BECKVILLE, Tx -- When Beckville pitcher Jesse Sipes stepped on the mound Tuesday night for the Bearcats' District 20-1A opener against Big Sandy here at Bearcat Field, he wanted to provide his team some stability on the hill. Sipes hurled a one-hitter, fanning nine and walking just three as he held the Big Sandy Wildcats to just one run.

Mission accomplished.

Looking to defend their state title from a year ago, Panola County National used tough defense and 18 extra-base hits this past weekend as the 'Dogs took two out of three games from Mount Pleasant to win the 2011 Dixie T-Ball State Championship Saturday in Spring Hill.
