From the beginning of the 2011 season to the end, there were many outstanding performances for the Beckville Ladycats' softball team. The squad that came within one win of advancing to the state tournament in Austin continued to pound opponents during the regular season, then stepped up its game in the playoffs.

Elysian Fields head football coach Eric King has announced the upcoming Elysian Fields Football Camp.

The camp will take place on Mon.-Tues., July 18-19, at Jacket Stadium at EFHS from 9-11:30 a.m. The cost of the camp is $40 per camper.

Six area softball players have produced impressive numbers on the field during the 2011 season. But they have also been recognized for their efforts in the classroom as three Carthage Lady Bulldogs, two Center Lady Riders and a Beckville Ladycat were honored by being named to their respective Texas Girls Coaches Association Academic All-State Softball teams.

Panola College officially kicked off the summer last week with beginning of the Summer I Classes and the beginning of summer camps with the Panola College Baseball Camp.

The Panola Baseball Camp has traditionally kicked off the summer camps at Panola College for the last 20 years during the first week of June.

This year nearly 50 young baseball players from around East Texas enjoyed the camp, according to Don Clinton, Vice President of Student Services.

TYLER, Tx -- A sports writer was talking to Beckville all-star defensive end Jared Woodall after Saturday night's Fellowship of Christian Athlete's Heart of a Champion Bowl and one of the assistant coaches from the Blue All-Stars came up to the writer and stated, "I'm glad someone is talking to that young man because he was definitely a difference-maker in this game."

TYLER, Tx -- Football players from across East Texas proudly represented their schools here at TMF Rose Stadium Saturday night and it was the Blue All-Stars which came out on top of the Red All-Stars, 24-0, in the inaugural Fellowship of Christian Athletes' 'Heart of a Champion Bowl' played before an estimated crowd of 4,500 fans.

Parents who wish to give their children an opportunity to receive hands-on baseball improvement lessons can do so by attending private or semi-private lessons from Center head baseball coach Joey Brown.

Brown is offering lessons to the public this summer. There are several options available, through a 30-minute private lesson for $25, a one-hour lesson for $40 or semi-private lessons for $25 each player for an hour of lessons. The lessons aren't limited to any particular age group.
