Garrison offensive lineman Kord Bradshaw has been selected to play in the 2012 Texas High School Coaches Association All-Star Football Game.

The 78th annual game, which is presented by Fuddruckers, will be played on Tuesday, July 31, at 7:30 p.m. in the Alamodome in San Antonio. The game will be televised live on Fox Sports Southwest. Tickets for the game are $10 at the gate.

The all-star game will be played in conjunction with the THSCA annual convention.

Carthage defensive lineman Dakota Hart will lead talented players from all over East Texas as they gear up for the 2nd Annual Fellowship of Christian Athletes' 'Heart of a Champion Bowl'.

The all-star football game is scheduled 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 9, at Lobo Stadium in Longview.

Approximately 110 East Texas football players representing 60 schools will take part in the game. Last year's contest was won the Red All-Stars, 24-0.

Panola College head baseball coach Todd Shelton will be hosting a baseball camp for youths ages 5-12 early next month.

Shelton said the camp will take place on June 4-6 from 9 a.m. until 12-noon at the Jim Reeves Memorial Field at the Carthage Baseball Complex. The cost of the three-day camp is $75 per individual.

Coaches will concentrate on introduction on basic skills and improvement and development of skills as well.

Football players from Carthage and Beckville will soon be in 7-on-7 action as they continue preparations for their respective 2012 football seasons.

According to Carthage head coach Scott Surratt, his Bulldogs have been working out during their athletic period in 7-on-7 action for the past 4-6 weeks and athletes will be once again working out against Marshall High School and Evangel High School in Louisiana during the month of June.

NACOGDOCHES, Tx - Despite blanking Douglass 7-0 in Game 1 Thursday night, the No.1-ranked Beckville Ladycats wanted to make sure the 16th-ranked Lady Indians knew who the superior team was. So Beckville turned a pair of double plays, used a two-hit pitching shutout and a 3-for-4 effort at the dish by Kari Courtney Friday to blank the Lady Indians, 10-0, in five innings at Lady Dragon Field.

NACOGDOCHES, Tx - Despite a sluggish offense performance early on Thursday night, the top-ranked Beckville Ladycats turned on the afterburners when they needed to, cranking out 13 hits and overcoming 13 stranded runners on base to claim Game 1 of the Class 1A Region III Semifinal game over Douglass, 7-0, at Lady Dragon Field.

The common phrase "speed kills" could be used figuratively in the Class 1A Region III Semifinal playoff series between Douglas and Beckville. But, nevertheless, it could mean a painful end to the season for the 16th-ranked Lady Indians if Ladycat shortstop Taylor Lindsay gets on a roll.

When Wendell Welch, head coach of No.1-ranked Beckville, says his team goes as Lindsay goes in her lead-off position in the lineup, he's pretty much dead-on.

The Beckville Ladycats, the new No.1-ranked team in Class 1A, will try to advance to the Class 1A Region III Championship round for the second time in as many years when they take on the No.16-ranked Douglass Lady Indians in a best-of-three series beginning tonight in Nacogdoches.
