The Center Police Department is sponsoring a Co-ed benefit softball tournament to raise funds for the newly developed Center Crime Stoppers unit, according to CPD Detective Ricky King.

The tournament is scheduled for Saturday, Oct.8, and will be played at the Nacogdoches Softball Complex. Registration for the tournament is now open and will be available for the first 12 teams through Friday, Sept. 30, King said.

The tourney is open to men and women's teams, but players must be 18 years of age and older. Each team must consist of at least five men and five women, with a maximum of 12 players on a squad.

The entry fee for the tournament is $150 per team. Umpires must be paid $15 per game as well. Teams must provide game balls (12' - -44 COR).

Players will not be permitted to wear metal spikes and ASA rules will apply.

All proceeds raised by the tourney will benefit the Center Crime Stoppers.
