Tenaha's new Special Events Center will be the host of a plethora of 'playoff previews' and postseason games in the coming days and weeks as basketball playoff fever comes to a boil in East Texas.

Tenaha Superintendent of Schools Don Fallin announced at the opening of the SEC that the Tenaha ISD would do its best to accommodate area schools, while giving area fans a place to go to enjoy great competitive basketball and the Shelby County district has come through.

The Special Events Center will be the site of the Tyler Chapter of Officials Girls Playoff Preview Saturday with four games involving Class 1A-4A schools battling it out in tune-ups before they open postseason play next week.

Class 1A teams No.24-ranked (D-I) Cayuga and No.4-ranked (D-II) Saltillo will battle at 1 p.m., followed by a Class 4A matchup at 2:30 p.m. between Marshall and Whitehouse. Class 1A power No.12 (D-I) Lovelady will take on Class 2A Woden at 4 p.m. The afternoon will culminate at 5:30 p.m. when host-team Tenaha battles Class 2A White Oak.

All the games on Saturday will be posted here at ShelbyCountySports.com, with scoring updates posted at the end of each quarter and stats, summaries and photos of each contest being posted at the conclusion of each game. Look for a link to the "Area Basketball Playoffs" on our homepage.

General admission to the all-day event is $5 per person. Officials have announced that in addition to the concession stand being open, the Tiger Cafe will sell meals of fried catfish, boiled shrimp or chicken strips, along with baked potato or fries for $5.50.

Basketball action can be seen on the big screen in the cafeteria while fans enjoy their meals.
