CENTER -- A disappointing season came to an end for the Center Lady Riders Tuesday night as they dropped a 60-35 decision to playoff-bound Hudson, 60-35, here in Roughrider Gymnasium.

Center finished the season with a 5-23 season record, dropping eight of its final nine games. The Lady Riders posted a 3-11 record against District 18-3A competition. Hudson (12-2) will now face Central (25-7, 12-2) in a one-game playoff for the league championship. Central defeated Jasper, 56-39, on Tuesday. The district playoff is set for Friday at 6 p.m. in Panther Gym in Lufkin. Both Hudson and Central Have already clinched playoff berths, along with Diboll (16-11, 10-4).

Diboll edged Huntington (19-13, 7-7), 54-51, on Tuesday, while Carthage (14-6, 7-7) stopped Rusk (0-14), 53-35.

Chakelia Moore led the Lady Riders against Hudson with 13 points and 11 boards. Lasaundra Miller threw in 12 points, while Jalecia Hill added four points, O'Mattie Swindle pitched in three, Cidnee Williams added two and Ieshia White scored one point.

Gregory dished out seven assists and tallied five rebounds.

The Lady Riders dug a hole early on and couldn't get back out as Center could only manage 10 points in the first two periods. The Lady Hornets scored 19 of the first 21 points in the first six minutes to take a 19-2 lead, and led 21-4 at the end of the opening quarter. Center committed nine turnovers in the first quarter as the Lady Riders came out flat on Senior Night.

Center's shooting woes continued in the second quarter as the Lady Riders could only muster one free throw in the first seven minutes of the period. Meanwhile, the Lady Hornets scored 12 points and built a comfortable lead, 33-5. Hudson led at the half, 36-10.

After scoring just seven points in the third quarter, Center's offense came alive in the fourth, outscoring Hudson 18-12. But the outcome had long-since been decided.
