Two Center Middle School boys basketball teams captured District 18-3A championships Monday night in the Roughrider Middle School Gymnasium. They clinched the titles with wins over arch-rival Carthage.
The Roughrider 7th Grade 'A' boys rolled to a 38-13 victory over the Bulldogs to complete an 11-1 season mark and an undefeated record against district competition, earning a spotless 9-0 mark. The team's only loss was to Class 5A Lufkin in a non-district matchup in the Lufkin Tournament earlier this season.
The Center 7th grade 'B' team also took the district title, posting a hard-fought 6-5 win to finish the season with an undefeated 8-0 record, according to Coach Joey Williams. Damien McNeal led CMS with three points, while Dalton Horton added two and Quin Jackson added one point.
