Two seniors on the Timpson Lady Bear volleyball team were among four team members honored recently as they were named to the All-District 21-1A Volleyball team. The selections were made by the coaches of the league teams.

The Lady Bears set a team record for number of wins in a season and the number of wins in league play during the 2009 season. Timpson posted a season mark of 9-15, while recording a District 21-1A mark of 3-7. Both were better than the previous six seasons.

Timpson senior outside hitter Shelby Bush and senior libero Danielle Brown were selected as second-team members. Teammates Macy Nix, a senior outsidehitter, and Tori Fanguy, a junior middle hitter, both received Honorable Mention by the coaches.

Beckville senior Tori Gray and Overton junior Molly Mackey were named as the Co-Most Valuable Players of the district. Leverett's Chapel senior Jordan Corpier was named the Most Valuable Hitter, while Overton junior Hillarie Endsley was named the Most Valuable Setter.

Beckville junior Erica Graham was named the Defensive Player of the Year, while Overton freshman Abby Mackey and Leverett's Chapel's Jessica Hernandez were the Co-Newcomers of the Year.

Overton Coach Randy Smith was named the Coach of the Year.

Timpson also had several of its players named to the Academic All-District 21-1A squad for maintaining a 90 grade point average. Those THS players included Tan Eaden (senior), Shelby Bush (senior), Macy Nix (senior), Kamilya Adams (senior), Dustee Tipton (freshman), Shelby Brown (sophomore), Danielle Brown (senior), Shelby Sanford (junior), Tammi Harris (sophomore), Lisa Crawford (junior), Tori Mosby (senior) and Tori Fanguy (junior).
