The Timpson High School Marching Band can now brag about being one of the Top 16 in the state of Texas after competing on Monday at the University Interscholastic League State Marching Contest held at the San Antonio Alamodome.
This adventure marked the first time that Timpson's band has ever competed at the State level.
The students left Sunday morning on a chartered bus provided by the school and rode into making a historical statement for Timpson High School. They arrived in San Antonio Sunday afternoon, placed items in their rooms and were taken to the Riverwalk, where they shopped and ate their evening meal. This was a rewarding provision; after all, the Riverwalk has many beautiful attractions and restaurants to choose from.
After returning to the hotel and forcing the excitement back for a while, the students managed to get some sleep. Wake up time was 5 a.m. Monday morning. They were taken to the Alamodome and there they prepared to march at 8:41 a.m.
The band competed against 15 other Class 1A Division bands in the state. Although they didn't make it to the finals on Tuesday, the Timpson Bear Band is ranked as one of the top 16 bands throughout the state of Texas.
These students have worked very hard this year and have made tremendous accomplishments during this marching season. They represented the town of Timpson very well in competition and placed Timpson 'on the map' for one of the greats bands in Texas 1A divisions.
Please contratulate these students and let them know how proud you are of them for a very outstanding season.
