SB: Clakley leads All-District 16-3A selections

Freshman pitcher Samantha Clakely led a strong late-season run by the Carthage Lady Bulldog softball team as she, along with several other CHS players, were rewarded for their outstanding play by being named to the All-District 16-3A squad that was released last week.
Clakely was the top pitcher on the Carthage team that finished second in the league race behind eventual state tournament participant Henderson. The Lady Dawgs posted a 7-3 league record and an 18-17 overall mark. CHS advanced to the Area round of the playoffs, falling to North Forney.
Other Carthage named to the first-team all-district squad included junior Katelyn Pope, who was honored as a infielder and junior Shelby Soape, who was a first-team utility player.
Lady Bulldog sophomore Brooklyn Peace, senior Sara Clakley and Morgan Wedgeworth were all second-team infielders.
Carthage freshman Ashleigh Edge received honorable mention recognition.
