BB: Strahan tops All-District 21-1A honors

Garrison's Dustin Stahan was named Co-Most Valuable Player of District 21-1A and Gary senior outfielder/pitcher Luke Thornton was among the players honored last week when the All-District 21-1A baseball teams were released by the league. The players were nominated and voted upon by the coaches.
Thornton played two positions, but was a first-team outfielder, along with Garrison senior Nathan Burkhalter, Douglass senior Blake Wallace and Timpson junior Tyler Jackson.
Another Gary Bobcat, junior Trey Reneau, received second-team honored when he was named second-team outfielder, along with Alto sophomore Charlie Wallace, Douglass senior Ty Marmon, Douglass senior Chance Partin, and Cushing senior Kelon Fitzgerald.
Strahan, a senior, and Douglass senior Collin Wallace were named Co-Most Valuable Players, Cushing junior Books Robey and Douglass junior Reed Westbrook were named Co-Offensive Players of the Year and Cushing freshman Cameron Burk was named the Defensive Player of the Year.
Shelbyville sophomore Brandon Schilder received the Newcomer of the Year award, Alto senior Austin Peacock was named Pitcher of the Year and Douglass head coach Eugene Lafitte was named Coach of the Year.
Douglass captured the league title, advancing all the way to the Region III Final. Cushing and Garrison also made the playoffs.
