Panola College head baseball coach Todd Shelton will be hosting a baseball camp for youths ages 5-12 early next month.
Shelton said the camp will take place on June 4-6 from 9 a.m. until 12-noon at the Jim Reeves Memorial Field at the Carthage Baseball Complex. The cost of the three-day camp is $75 per individual.
Coaches will concentrate on introduction on basic skills and improvement and development of skills as well.
Attendees are urged to preregister so t-shirts can be ordered.
"Baseball is the greatest game in the world and it takes young men like the ones in this area to carry on the great tradition that has made baseball 'America's favorite pastime,'" Shelton said in a release.
"During the camp we will try to teach the fundamental skills and drills of the game which have been passed on through the years. Many sports change, however, baseball has remained the same and has grown stronger and stronger.
"The fundamentals of the game must be taught and practiced over and over until it becomes habit, because the game is just a bunch of fundamentals."
Individuals attending the camp need to bring a baseball glove, bat, shoes or cleats, sneakers (in case of inclement weather) and a t-shirt. The participants' name should be on all personal items, bats and gloves, as Panola College is not responsible for any lost or stolen items.
