It may be the spring, but basketball fans can see some high school hoops on Saturday when the Gary ISD hosts the Gary Youth Sports Association Shootout.
Admission is $5 for the day. There will be concessions available at the new Bobcat Gymnasium.
Boys teams from Gary and Carthage will be the main attraction and will be joined by squads from the following high schools: Timpson, Joaquin, Central Heights, Sabine, Carlisle, Sabine and Cushing.
Teams will play 20-minute halves with a running clock. In the final minute of each half the clock will stop unless the lead by one team is 15 points or more.
Free throws will be shot, but one will count for two or three points until the final minute of the half, if the clock stops.
If the contest ends in a tie, there will be a two-minute sudden-dead period. There will only be one sudden death period played.
Players will foul out with five fouls.
The halftime will last three minutes, with five minute warm-ups between games.
