MBB: Bobcats bump Dragons to stay top 22-1A

Gary captures fourth straight to keep pace with Tenaha

The Gary Bobcats know if they want to claim the District 22-1A championship this season, they must knock off the No.4-ranked Tigers. But before they do that they have to defeat all the other squads as well. GHS remained unbeaten in league play Tuesday night when they went on the road to bump off Shelbyville, 48-33, in Dragon Gymnasium.

The victory was the 'Cats' four straight as they improved their season mark to 14-9, but more importantly remained perfect in league play at 4-0. Gary is tied with Tenaha (11-3) in first place with identical 4-0 records. The two teams met Friday night in Gary to see which team would have the upper hand to conclude the first round of district matchups.

Timpson (6-15) took over sole possession of third place with a 2-2 record with a 46-43 overtime win at home against Garrison (2-6). The Bulldogs slipped into a tie with Shelbyville (4-13) for fourth place with 1-3 marks.

Beckville (1-15) remained winless with an 88-12 setback to Tenaha.

In games on Friday night, Garrison hosts Shelbyville and Beckville visits Timpson. Teams will then begin the second half of league play on Tuesday with Beckville visiting Shelbyville, Tenaha hosting Garrison and Gary traveling to Beckville.

Stephen White led the charge for Gary against the Dragons as he connected on 5-of-12 field goals and scored 13 points. White recorded a double-double, pulling down 11 rebounds.

Josh Bowen knocked down 4-of-7 field goals for 11 points, while Levi Cohorst scored nine, Matt Wood pitched in seven, Connor Coligan scored four and Jade Greer and Luke Thornton each had two points.
