The Carthage Lady Bulldogs are in control of their own playoff destiny and in the thick of the District 16-3A playoff chase. On Tuesday night they went on the road and took care of business, burying the Gladewater Lady Bears, 60-18.

The win, which was Carthage's third straight after starting league play with a 1-2 mark, kept the Lady Bulldogs (16-11) tied with Gilmer (8-9) in second place in the district standings with four games remaining. Gilmer bumped Henderson, 64-50, on Tuesday to leave the Lady Lions (7-17) with a 1-5 league mark.

Pittsburgh remained the only unbeaten team in District 16-3A as the Lady Pirates kept their two-game lead in the standings with a 57-38 victory over Spring Hill. The Lady Panthers (6-18) fell back to 3-3 and into fourth place.

Gladewater (4-13) is the only winless team in the district with an 0-6 record.

In Friday's matchups, Carthage will be in a big matchup with Spring Hill at home, while Henderson hosts Gladewater and Gilmer visits Pittsburgh. The Lady Bulldogs will host three of their last four contests, including the next three.

Four Carthage players scored in double figures in the victory over the Lady Bears with Tambra Mitchell dropping in 16 points on 6-of-18 shooting from the field. Chasity Traylor connected on 5-of-13 and scored 13 points.

In addition to McLinn's rebounding totals, Mitchell yanked down eight, Hill and Jackie Jackson each posted five and Traylor tallied four.
