WBB: Lady Tigers back alone in 22-1A top spot

Just three days after a disappointing loss on the Beckville home that forced Tenaha back into a first-place tie with the Ladycats, Tenaha once again finds itself alone in first place in the District 22-1A D-I standings after Friday's games.
The Lady Tigers (14-12) took care of their business with a convincing 67-29 win in Bobcat Gymnasium over Gary (3-12). Timpson (8-11) then gave Tenaha a little help by upsetting Beckville, 42-40, on a shot in the lane by Tammi Harris in the final seconds in Timpson.
Now, with just three games left in the regular season, Tenaha sits alone in first place with a 6-1 mark, while Beckville (13-13) is now one game back with a 5-2 mark. Timpson is tied with Garrison (7-12) for the third and final playoff spot, just one game back of Beckville and two back of Tenaha. Shelbyville (14-10) is still mathematically alive with a 2-5 league mark. Gary is 0-7 in district.
Tia Thomas led four Tenaha players in double figures against the Lady Bobcats on Friday. She scored a game-high 15 points. Ashlee Ray added 13 points, Whitney Jackson pumped in 11 and Jalysa Steadman scored 10 points.
Eboni Moore added nine points for the Lady Tigers, while Taylor Killey scored five and Shantivia gray and Bria Nelson pitched in two points apiece.
Tenaha led by six, 16-10, at the end of the first period, but then began pulling away, outscoring the Lady Bobcats 18-8 and 17-3, respectively, in the next two quarters to grab a 51-21 lead heading into the final eight minutes. THS then outscored Gary 16-7 in the fourth period to coast to the victory.
In games coming up on Tuesday, Beckville will host Gary, Garrison will visit Tenaha in a key game and Timpson will have to travel to Shelbyville in what could be another game to go down to the wire.
On Friday, Beckville will visit Shelbyville, Garrison hosts Gary and Tenaha is at Timpson. The final night of the regular season next Tuesday has Beckville hosting Garrison, Timpson visiting Gary and Shelbyville playing at Tenaha.
