The District 16-3A boys basketball race is a tough one, with only two games separating the top four squads after four games. Unfortunately for the Carthage Bulldogs, their time is running out if they want a chance at a postseason bid.

On Tuesday night the Dawgs went on the road and dropped a 62-55 decision to Gladewater to fall to 0-4 in league action, 4-16 on the season. Gladewater improved to 2-2 and stayed into a third-place tie with Gilmer (2-2).

Spring Hill became the only unbeaten team in the league with a spotless 4-0 mark on Tuesday. The Panthers outlasted Pittsburgh, 61-50, on Tuesday to hand the Pirates their first district loss and leaves them at 3-1.

Gilmer stayed in a tie with Gladewater at 2-2 with a 71-50 victory over Henderson. The Lions dropped to 1-3 and into fifth place in the district. Henderson's lone league win was over Carthage.

In the setback to the Bears, Tee Goree and Ashton Robertson both reached double figures, dumping in 10 points apiece. Meechie Bowman chipped in nine points, O'Keeron Rutherford and Greg Brantley both contributed eight, Skylar Allison added four and Broc Jemison scored three points.

Carthage is at home Friday night, hosting Spring Hill, and will then move on to host Pittsburgh on Tuesday night at 8 p.m. The Bulldogs will be at home for four of their final six games of the regular season.
