Center Lady Rider powerlifters Chakera Ingram and Gaby Mireles earned top honors Saturday as they led the Center Lady Rider powerlifting team to the championship at the Hemphill Powerlifting Meet.
Ingram earned Best Lifter on the light platform at the one-day event, while Mireles was named Best Lifter for the heavy platform.
"I was very proud of the way the girls have worked leading up to, and at the meet in Hemphill," said Lady Rider powerlifting coach Donna Shannon. "I was very pleased with everyone's effort and I'm looking forward to seeing what they can do when we host our meet in Center on (Thursday) Feb. 2."
Seven different Center lifter captured top honors in individual events, with Ingram capturing the 148-lb. class and Mireles winning the 181-lb. class.
Other Lady Riders claiming top honors included Josey Wingo in the 114-lb. class, Kadijah Cooper at 132, Kristin Gilchrist in the 165-lb. class, Jessica Edwards in the 198 and Lucero Espinosa in the 220-lb. class.
Two members of the Center team placed second, with Crystal Johnson coming in runner-up in the 132-lb. class and Jasmine Belins in the 165-lb. class.
The Center event will take place on Thursday, Feb. 2, beginning at 4 p.m. in Roughrider Gymnasium.
