WBB: Lady Bulldogs roll over Gilmer, 45-31

Mitchell scores 17 points, nine rebounds in 16-3A win

Tambra Mitchell scored 17 points and grabbed nine rebounds Tuesday night as the Carthage Lady Bulldogs evened their District 16-3A mark at 2-2 Tuesday night on the road with a convincing 45-31 win over Gilmer.

The victory snapped a two-game league losing skid for Carthage, as they improved to 14-11 on the season. Carthage hosted Henderson Friday night and will opened the second half of district play on Tuesday when the Lady Bulldogs travel to Gladewater for a 6:15 p.m. contest.

Mitchell hit 8-of-18 field goals and finished as the team's leading scorer. Emilee Mclinn added 10 points, knocking down 5-of-8 from the field.

Lauren Thompson and Salena Robinson each cashed in six points, with Jarnai Hill adding four and Chasity Traylor scoring two points.

As a team, Carthage hit the board hard, pulling down 30 rebounds. Fifteen of those rebounds came on the offensive end. Mclinn added five rebounds, with Jackie Jackson totaling four and Hill and Thompson totaling three each.

Traylor, Mitchell, Robinson, Williams and Mclinn each had three steals, while Traylor and Mitchell dished out four assists apiece.

The Lady Dawgs overcame 24 turnovers to grab the district win.
