After their season opener last Tuesday against Trinity was cancelled, the Garrison Lady Bulldog basketball team hit the hardwood for the first time on Saturday when it opened the season with a 31-28 hard-fought win over San Augustine in Bulldog Gymnasium.

It was a low-scoring affair early on, but the squads began to heat up in the fourth quarter and that's when Garrison (1-0) put enough offense together to gain the victory.

The Lady Wolves moved out to a 9-6 lead at the end of the opening stanza, but Garrison crept back to within 12-10 at the half. Both teams scored six points in the third quarter, before the Lady Dogs poured in 15 points, while holding SAHS to just 10 in the fourth to gain the victory.

Tatum Greer and Hannah Kimbrough both hit double-figures for Garrison with 11 points apiece. Jasia Berry added seven points and Rexanna Powers finished with two points.

Garrison will be back at home tonight (Tuesday) when they Lady Dogs host West Sabine (JV,V) in a 5 p.m. junior varsity tip-off. They will then be off until next Monday, when they travel to Broaddus on Monday (JV,V) for a 5 p.m. start. They will play their last game before the Thanksgiving holiday on Tuesday at Joaquin (JV,V), with the junior varsity tipping off at 4 p.m.
