XC: Lady Dragon runners finishing strong

The Shelbyville junior varsity cross country team have recorded a pair of strong performances recently while competing in area meets. SHS placed second at the Brooks Lumberjack Invitational and first in the Rider Invitational last weekend.

Ali Baty claimed top honors in the individual competition at the Brooks Invitational, posting a time of 13:50. Lady Dragon teammate Catashia Walker came in fourth in the event with a time of 14:10.

The other top five SHS competitors included Adaisha Cartwright, Camory Bolton and Laney Porter.

Baty also won the junior varsity division at the Rider Invitational last weekend with a time of 13:42. Walker was second with a 14:08, Cartwright placed third with a 14:23 and Bolton grabbed the fifth spot with a time of 15:02.

LaKuwaneshia McClelland took the sixth spot with a time of 15:48, Kelsey Pennington was 11th with a 16:29, Porter placed 12th with a 16:30 and Tiara Johnson ran 13th with a 16:36.
