Led by Bryan Ruiz, the Center Roughrider varsity boys cross country team posted a 13th place finish Saturday at the 2011 Brooks Lumberjack Invitational cross county meet held at Nacogdoches' Pecan Park.
Hudson took the overall varsity finish, with Lufkin placing second, East Bernard coming in third, Spring Hill placing fourth and Bridge City taking the fifth spot.
Center scored 298 points for 13th spot, while Gary placed 17th overall. There were 128 runners who competed in the 5K varsity boys race.
Ruiz ran 29th overall, with a time of 18:33.21. Fellow Roughrider Jose Tello placed 53rd with a time of 19:18.13.
Other times by Center runners included: Daniel Woodhatch (20:17.77); Eric Gonzalez (20:29.56); and Aaron Strong (21:20.27).
Matt Wood paced the Gary Bobcats as he posted the 63rd best time of 19:52.05. Other times for Gary varsity athletes included: Randall Williams (21:44.30); Josh Bowen (24:57.98); Justin Singletary (25:16.22); and Seth Huff (25:31.18).
Junior Varsity Boys
Tenaha claimed sixth place in the junior varsity boys division. Center placed 10th and Gary ran 12th, among area teams. Carthage and Shelbyville also had participants in the race.
The Tigers were led by Edgar Flores' 37th place with a 21:47.44. Damien Reece was 41st with a 22:04.40 and Ricky Corpus posted a 22:14.70 for 44th place. Other runners for the Tigers included: Alberto Leos (22:49.60); Rafael Loredo (25:22.25); Leon Aguilar (25:48.95); Jamie Mendoza (26:28.46); Seth Wyatt (32:16.43); Alex Horton (32:55.05); Joshua Dorey (33:16.00); and Edgar Pineda (33:30.00).
The Center junior varsity was led by Jonathan Rangel's time of 22:17.53, which put him in 46th place. Ren Evan ran a 22:20.84 for 48th and Jay Berry placed 49th with a 22:28.07. Other finishers for the 'Riders were: Eduardo Mireles (25:58.75); Lonzo Weathered (26:12.90); and Ian Moore (28.35.90).
Tanner O'Dell paced the Carthage Bulldogs' jayvee with a time of 21:37.44. That put him in the 35th spot. Other Carthage finishers included: Trevor Julian (25:44.94); Daniel Garcia (28:46.84); and Marcus Parker (28:58.91).
Nolan Borders ran for Shelbyville, finishing the event in 27:54.99.
Gary's Trey Reneau ran a 22:57.41 and Cameron Coligan posted a 25:26.45. Other finishers for the Bobcats included: Levi Cohorst (26:38.68); Jonathan Jordan (27:17.83); Josh Boykin (27:20.23); Stephen White (28:10.63); Chase Dawson (32:05.67); Cody Bridges (32:15.89); and Brent Nicholson (33:08.58).
