The Center High School cross country teams opened the season at Hudson Saturday as the Roughriders and Lady Riders participated in the Hudson Cross Country Team Relays to begin the 2011 season.
According to Center cross country coach Donna Shannon, individual runners partnered up at the competition, with each runner competing in a 'leg' of the race. The girls ran a mile (four miles total) and the boys ran 1.5 miles (six miles total) of the race twice.
On the boys' side, Center's Bryan Ruiz and Jose Tello combined for place 18th overall, while Daniel Woodhatch and Aaron Strong placed 35th.
In the girls' competition, Elizabeth Bailey and Celia Gonzalez took the 22nd spot, while Jessica Soto and Maria Tello claimed 28th.
Center runners will return to action on Saturday when they compete at the Davy Crockett Invitational in Crockett.
