The season for the Ark-La-Tex Junior Golf Tour has come to a close, with several Panola County area golfers participating and earning tournament recognition.
Here are some results of recent competition involving area athletes:
Wood Hollow Golf Course -- In the Wood Hollow Adult/Youth Tournament in Longview, Carthage's tandem of Courtlynd Miller and Jack Ellett edged the field in the Girls 16-18 Division to claim top honors by one stroke and a score of 67.
Victoria Chapman and Mickey Fox of Sulphur Springs placed a close second with a 68, while Kelsey Armstrong and Bruce Armstrong of Lindale, along with Milli Taylor and Matt Taylor of Quitman, both tied for third with a 69.
The Carthage duo of Wade Davis and Clay Davis combined to shoot a 64 in the Boys 14-15 Division, losing a tiebreaker after tying Gilmer's Jacob Benson and Matt Benson. Trevor Baldwin and Bud Posey of Mount Pleasant won the division with a score of 61, three shots ahead of the other two teams.
Challenge at Oak Forest CC -- Carthage golfer Olivia Boone placed in the top three at the Challenge at Oak Forest Country Club Tournament, posting a score of 85 in the Girls 15-18 Division to secure second place.
Quitman's Molli Taylor won the division with an 83, while Gabby Thompson of Atlanta was six shots behind Boone with a 91.
Carthage' Wade Davis finished four strokes off the pace to place third in the event in the Boys' 14-15 Division. Chandler Browen of Gladewater won the division with an 82, with Connor Whorff of Winnsboro one stroke behind with an 83 and three strokes ahead of Davis.
